Robotic Record Attempt At The Public
A world record attempt for the most people dancing like robots is set to be broken at The Public.
Visitors will be making machine moves in a bid to smash the record for the most people doing robotics in costume on February 13 with artist James Johnson-Perkins.
The Public’s Saturday Art Club will be making costumes in the run-up to the record attempt.
James has put together a simple robot dance and people of all ages can get involved. To see the dance, go to www.johnson-perkins.co.uk
The fun starts on February 13 at 10am, there will be a warm up at noon, with the record attempt starting at 1.30pm.
James will also open an exhibition of robots made from Mega Bloks at The Public on February 10 and a series of workshops where people can create their own robot metropolis and use digital photography to bring their creations to life.
The workshops are free and run from February 13 to 16 from 10am-2pm, book early to avoid disappointment.
James said: “It’s a great privilege and pleasure to be invited to The Public to display a new installation of my works.
“As part of Robot Invasion, people can get involved in the workshops to make an awesome landscape from Mega Bloks, which will also form part of the exhibition,” he added.
“I would also like to personally invite people to the record attempt on February 13. People are asked dress up as robots and do robotics and try and beat the Guinness world record for the most people dressed as robots doing robotics at one time.”
Linda Saunders, managing director at The Public, added: “Come along, go digital, relive your childhood and get involved. It’s a great start to a great week of half term activities.”
