IMPROVEMENTS TO LANGLEY PARK

A number of improvements are due to take place in Langley Park within the next few weeks.

 A new hard surfaced Play Area will be installed before the end of the year. This will be a smaller version of the Multi-Use Games Area in Barnford Park . This follows repeated requests from young people in the Langley Area.
  The Community Payback Team have been engaged in cutting back some of the shrubs at the perimeter of the Park.

SANDWELL COUNCIL has reassured the public is has not given up clearing weeds growing in roads after rainy spell hit its maintenance programme. The council’s cabinet member for neighbourhoods and housing councillor Mahboob Hussain said the all-round programme of weed clearing had been hit by the recent rainy spell.
Cllr Hussain said: “The highways are sprayed three times a year – spring, summer and autumn. “The spray that is used needs at least four hours of really dry weather afterwards to be effective.

SANDWELL Council is set to shell out more than £450k to improve an island which is a gateway into Oldbury. The council has launched the BIG (Birchley Island Gateway) partnership to improve the roundabout, working closely with businesses in the area.
Initial council proposals – estimated at £450k – include planting semi-matured trees and ornamental shrubs, having low-maintenance gravel areas and boulders and improving lighting. The section of the A4123 under the M5 viaduct is also set to be improved with better lighting and road surfacing.

Friends of Langley Park have launched their new logo. The logo was designed by  pupils at Langley Primary School and the Friends Group are to reward the pupils with prizes to be presented by the Mayor of Sandwell, Councillor Robert  Price at a special school Assembly on Thursday  2 April 2009 at the School in Titford Road, Oldbury at 9.00 am.
A £20 book voucher is to be awarded to the designer of the winning entry, Thomas Pople, together with Swimming Vouchers courtesy of Sandwell Leisure Trust.
